The 7500 has both manual and an automatic reversal action. The 5500 has a manual reversal function only. The automatic reversal functionality helps in further protecting the engine, gears and bearings. The automatic reversal allows for continuous juicing. The automatic reversal is almost unnoticeable when juicing except may see slight backing-up of fine chewed food which means you should feed it food at slower rate to get the most juice out of the food.
